Alumni Homecoming Parade Registration
Register your chapter to take part in the annual Homecoming Parade!
This year’s Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, October 17th at 6pm.
Registration ends on Friday, September 26th at 5pm.
Parade Rules
- Vehicles
- Vehicles must report to the parade check-in table at your designated check-in time. Groups that are more than 30 minutes late will be disqualified and WILL NOT participate in the parade.
- The Borough Traffic Coordinator strictly prohibits anything being thrown from the vehicles. Committee members will be stationed throughout the parade route this year to enforce this. All candy, flyers, etc. must be handed to parade viewers by WALKING members only
- Any vehicle deemed unsafe or inappropriate by the Overall Committee or State College Borough Police will be removed from the parade
- Halogen lights are not permitted
- Parade
- All information regarding the parade staging area will be posted on the Homecoming website the week of Homecoming
- Any drivers must have a clear view through the windows and clear access to all doors
- Parade Order will be determined at random by the Parade Overall
- The parade begins at 6:00 pm
- NO SMOKING in the staging area, before or during the parade
- ALL TRASH should be removed from your area before leaving the parade grounds
- Any vehcile, banner, or presentation that stops along the parade route will receive one warning from security committee members. A second warning will result in disqualification for next year’s parade. Your organization may do its routine as long as it keeps moving. If an organization causes a gap in the parade and do not obey the security committee members’ warnings, they will not be permitted to participate in the parade the following Homecoming
- Any group found with obscene or political propaganda will NOT be able to participate in the parade
- Police Regulations
- 10 pound minimum ABC (min 2H/10BC rating) fire extinguisher required for each float. Fire extinguisher MUST be present at time of check-in and inspection.
- Electrical appliances must be powered by battery or generator.
- Wiring connections must be secure and safe. No open slices or frayed wiring.
- Generators must be uncovered and not placed within 3 feet of combustible materials.
- Generators shall not be placed in enclosed spaces or passenger vehicles.
This includes pick-up truck beds. - All heat sources (light, etc.) must be located away from combustible materials.
- No halogen lights may be used.
- No open flames are permitted.
- A person who operates a vehicle in violation shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $300 for each violation.
