Originally from Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, Travis Salters is a senior double majoring
in broadcast journalism and African/African American Studies with minors in
political science and sociology. Salters is the President of the National Associated
for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Mr. Black Penn State.
Salters, whose aunt inspired him to choose Penn State, calls the Paul Robeson
Cultural Center his favorite place on campus. He remembers being on the field his
freshman year when Penn State beat Ohio State as his favorite memory.
Being a part of Homecoming this year, Salters relates Homecoming to a family
reunion. “My family has annual family reunions, where every one of my family
members travels from all over the country to hang out,” he said. “That is what Penn
State Homecoming is to me.”
