Homecoming Overall Committee Announces
2007 Grand Marshall
This year’s Homecoming theme is "Reflecting the Spirit," a theme chosen to show the pride and spirit in Penn State that all students, alumni, faculty, and fans have. It is with this spirit that the Homecoming Overall Committee is proud to announce that this year’s Homecoming Grand Marshall will be legendary Penn State football player, Franco Harris.
Harris graduated from Penn State in 1972. As a Nittany Lion, Harris rushed for 2002 yards with 380 rushing attempts. He was a first round draft pick in 1972 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Steelers for 12 seasons, including four Super Bowl games with the team. He was selected to play in nine Pro Bowl games and is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
As Grand Marshall, Harris will appear in numerous events throughout Homecoming weekend. On Friday, October 12, he will appear at the Student-Alumni Ice Cream Social from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Hintz Alumni Center. Students and alumni are encouraged to attend the Ice Cream Social and meet with Harris. Later that evening, he will appear in the Homecoming Parade. The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. and runs throughout downtown State College. Harris will also be at the Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 13, as the Nittany Lions take on the Wisconsin Badgers.
