Mission

The mission of Penn State Homecoming is to celebrate tradition and instill pride in all members of the Penn State family through active engagement of students, alumni, faculty and staff across the community.

Vision

We believe that the traditional sense of a homecoming celebration encompassing a parade and football game has evolved, and strive to set a new standard for homecoming celebrations.. Penn State Homecoming organizes a number of exciting events in the spring and fall semesters culminating with the events of Homecoming Week.

Director Bios

 

In addition to Homecoming's Executive Director, there are 16 Homecoming Directors, one for each of the Capatin Committees. Directors from each Committee form the Homecoming Executive Committee (HEC).  Throughout the year Directors plan and organize all Homecoming events and are vital to the success of Penn State's Homecoming celebration.

Alumni Relations

Emily Heere

Emily is Junior from Reading, Pennsylvania majoring in Kinesiology. Outside of Homecoming she participates in THON and is a Research Assistant. She has been involved in Homecoming in the past serving as the Grand Marshall/ Honorary Grand Marshall Liaison for the Alumni Relations Committee. Emily’s favorite part of Homecoming is seeing all the pride students, alumni, and the rest of the Penn State community have for this university during the weeklong celebration. This year she is most looking forward to all the new people she will meet and working to make an impact on Homecoming and Penn State.

Competition

Jamie Letender

Jamie is a Sophomore from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania majoring in Supply Chain and Information Systems and minoring in Information Systems Management. Outside of Homecoming, Jamie participates in a THON committee as well as her sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma. Prior to becoming a Director, Jamie had an active involvement in both Homecoming 2015 and Homecoming 2016. She served on the First Year Involvement Committee as a freshman and went on to become the 2016 Points Captain as a part of the Competition Committee. Jamie’s favorite part of Homecoming is being able to celebrate Penn State’s legacy with all of the students, faculty, and alumni who participate each year. This year she is most looking forward to working with all of the competing organizations to make Homecoming an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Distribution Management

Kara Fickinger

Kara is a Junior from New London, Pennsylvania majoring in Supply Chain and Information Systems with a minor in Spanish. She has been involved with Homecoming in the past through the Distribution Management Committee as a Captain. Outside of Homecoming, she is involved with THON in the Donor and Alumni Relations Committee and she is also a member of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. Kara’s favorite part of Homecoming is bringing together the entire Penn State community to show pride for our university and celebrate its accomplishments. She is looking forward to leaving a mark on Homecoming and Penn State with the other Directors and her Captains.

Donor Relations

Natalie Scott

Natalie is a sophomore from Haddonfield, NJ. She is majoring in Health Policy Administration with a double minor in Labor and Employment Relations and business. Outside of Homecoming Natalie is a collegiate mentor in her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and participates in THON. She has been involved with Homecoming in the past as a First Year Involvement Committee member and a University Relations Outreach Captain. Natalie’s favorite part of Homecoming is seeing the Penn State community and alumni come home to celebrate the great tradition that is Penn State. This year she is looking forward to seeing all of the captains’ and directors’ hard work throughout the year come together during Homecoming Week!

Finance

Brittney Falcon

Brittney is a Junior from Tampa, Florida. She is majoring in Enterprise Risk Management with a minor in Information Systems Management. She has been involved with Homecoming since her Freshman year, first as a member of the First Year Involvement Committee, then as a University Relations Captain, and most recently as a Captain on the Finance Committee. Outside of Homecoming, Brittney is involved with the Enterprise Risk Management Association. Her favorite part of Homecoming is that it brings together the entire Penn State community in celebration of our shared identity as Penn Staters. She is looking forward to contributing to the legacy left behind by the many Penn State students before her and is excited to partake in all of the events of Homecoming 2017 with her captains.

Merchandise

Matt Johnson

Matt is a junior from Hershey, Pennsylvania. He is majoring in Biomedical Engineering with a Math Minor. Outside of Homecoming, Matt is the President of the Biomedical Engineering Society and participates in THON as a committee member and through the special interest organization, A-7. He has been involved in Homecoming in the past as a Merchandise committee member and as a Merchandise Inventory Captain. Matt’s favorite part of Homecoming is how students, alumni, faculty, and families all come together to celebrate everything that Penn State does around the world. Matt is most excited to see what all his directors and captains are able to accomplish for this university and what kind of mark they will leave on the State College community.

OPPerations

Shannon Buono

Shannon is a Junior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is currently studying Biology with a specialization in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology. Outside of Homecoming, Shannon is involved in THON as an OPPerations committee member. Shannon has previously been involved in Homecoming as a member of the OPPerations committee as a Logistics Captain. Her favorite Homecoming memory was seeing Best of Penn State Carnival come together as she had been involved in much of the planning and preparation for the event. This year, Shannon is most looking forward to helping to bring together students, alumni, and the community all in celebration of Penn State pride.

Internal Development

Ally Berdan

Ally Berdan is a sophomore from Elkridge, Maryland majoring in Supply Chain and Information Systems. Outside of Homecoming, Ally participates in Women in Business, Smeal Student Mentors, Lion Scouts, and Club Snowboard’s THON efforts. She became involved with Homecoming her freshman year as a Merchandise Captain, and has loved every part of it. Ally most enjoys seeing the entire Penn State family, past and present, come together as a community to show pride for our favorite school. She is most looking forward to sharing her Penn State love with her captains and seeing all of the friendships that form from Homecoming.

Parade

Emma Hoffnagle

Emma is a Junior from York, Pennsylvania. She is majoring in Biobehavioral Health with minors in Human Development and Family Studies and Psychology. Outside of Homecoming Emma participates in THON as a 2017 Communications Captain and in previous years as a Dancer Relations Committee Member. Emma has been involved in Homecoming in the past through the Parade Committee and as a Student Organization Parade Captain. Emma’s favorite part of Homecoming is seeing the pride in all the alumni, community, students, and staff come together to celebrate Penn State and all its glory. This year, she is looking forward to working with an amazing group of people to plan, organize, and execute the largest student-run parade in the nation.

Pride Events

Matt Monaghan

Matt is a Junior from West Chester, Pennsylvania. He is majoring in Secondary Education and History. Outside of Penn State he works as an Ocean Lifeguard for the Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol. Matt has previously been involved with Homecoming as the 2016 OPPerations Director, through the OPPerations Committee as a Captain and as a Committee Member on the First Year Involvement Committee. Matt's favorite part of Homecoming is seeing everyone enjoy the events that Homecoming has worked so hard to put together.

Production

Paige Wisehaupt

Paige is a sophmore from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. She is a Film/Video major with a minor in Spanish. Paige has been involved with Homecoming since her freshmen year. She was a part of the First Year Involvement Committee and the following year she served as the Development Captain for Donor Relations. Outside of Homecoming, Paige has been a part of the Merchandise Committee and the Production Committee for THON. She is also a student ambassador for Stand For State, Penn State’s bystander intervention program. Paige is also a Welcome Week Leader through Penn State’s Student Orientation and Transition Programs. Paige is a member of the Women’s Club Handball team and enjoys participating in various intramural sporting leagues. Paige cannot wait to work alongside her Captains to promote pride among all Penn Staters, past and present. She is excited to see how Homecoming can bring the entire student body together to show people what Penn State is all about.

Public Relations

Marielle Ravally

Marielle is a Sophomore from Point Pleasant, New Jersey. She is majoring in Marketing with minors in Media Studies and Italian. Outside of Homecoming, Marielle is a part of RebuildU and the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Marielle has been involved in Homecoming in the past through Alumni Relations as an Ice Cream Social Captain. Marielle's favorite part about Homecoming is bringing the entire Penn State community together. Whether you are a current student, alum, or a Nittany Lion supporter we are all one family. Homecoming welcomes our family back home and provides the opportunity to celebrate Penn State's past, present, and future. This year Marielle is most looking forward to working with her committee to share Homecoming with all Penn Staters!

Royalty

Anuja Jonnalagadda

Anuja is a Senior from Wayne, Pennsylvania. She is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in Engineering Mechanics. Outside of Homecoming, Anuja is involved with the Women in Engineering Program, serving as a Mentor for their orientation. She is also a Teaching Intern and is a part of the Society of Women Engineers. Anuja has been involved in Homecoming in the past as the Homecoming chair for the Society of Women Engineers and as a Royalty captain. Anuja’s favorite part of Homecoming is how people come back to Penn State from all over the United States for Homecoming weekend; she loves the Blue-and-White pride along with the awesome community feel. This year she is looking forward to working with her captains to help create lifelong memories during Homecoming week but also to see the impact they make for the future.

Security

David Fanelli

David is a Junior from Downingtown, Pennsylvania majoring in chemistry. Outside of Homecoming David is involved in THON OPPerations as a committee member and conducts independent research in organic chemistry. In the past, David was part of Homecoming as a security committee member and subsequently a Security Captain (Parade Logistics). His favorite part of Homecoming is the feeling of pride and accomplishment that accompanies the parade. This year, David looks forward to leading his captains to a fantastic Homecoming week that the entire Penn State community can be proud of.

Technology

Ewurafua Asiedu

Ewurafua is a Junior from Columbia, Maryland. She is majoring in Information Sciences and Technology, Design and Development option. Outside of Homecoming Ewurafua is involved in participates in THON as a Technology Captain and is Secretary of QTPOC. She was also previously involved in Homecoming as a Technology Captain. Her favorite part of Homecoming is seeing everyone's hard work pay off during the culmination of Homecoming week. This year she is excited to lead her committee throughout the year and making friends along the way.

University Relations

Bailey Gibson

Bailey is a Junior from Reading, Pennsylvania. She is majoring in Rehabilitation and Human Services with minors in both Psychology and Deafness & Hearing Studies. Along with Homecoming, Bailey is involved in THON as a Dancer Relations Committee Member, as well as Relay for Life as a Recruitment and Involvement Captain. She has been involved with Homecoming for the past two years as both a Pride Events committee member and the Pride Events Committee Captain. Bailey’s favorite part of Homecoming is seeing all the alumni, community and students come together and show their love for this University. This year, she is excited to work with her fellow directors and captains and celebrate a successful Homecoming 2017!
