Executive Director and Officer Application

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Executive Director, Outreach Officer, and/or Logistics Officer positions for Homecoming 2022. All Executive Director applications must be completed by 5PM on Friday October 29th. All Officer applications must be completed by 5PM on Friday November 5th. Position Descriptions: 

2022 ED Description- 

The Executive Director works to facilitate the establishment of a specific vision for Homecoming during the 2021-2022 term. They are responsible for running all Executive Committee meetings and collaborating with advisors to enhance the development of each Director. They should understand the leadership style of all Executive Committee members so the team will work effectively together throughout the year. It is the responsibility of the Executive Director to guarantee the organization stays true to its mission and grows in a positive direction. They are the main representative of Homecoming to the public and must maintain positive relationships with university and community officials. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring that all Executive Committee members fulfill their yearlong responsibilities; if at any point a member of the Executive Committee cannot fulfill their duties the Executive Director must ensure that all tasks are completed. Lastly, it is the job of the Executive Director to manage and mediate all conflicts with members of the organization to ensure the development of effective relationships. 

Responsibilities of the Executive Director include, but are not limited to: 

  • Weekly meetings with the Executive Committee 
  • Weekly meetings with Advisors and Officers 
  • Manage internal operations of the Executive Committee 
  • Transitioning and writing of a final report 
  • Run year end wrap up meetings 
  • Hold office hours 
  • Plan both spring and fall Executive Committee retreats 
  • Willingness to be present in the HUB and work with Student Activities 

 

 

2022 Outreach Officer Description: 

The Outreach Officer is responsible for the coordination of sharing the Homecoming mission and opportunities throughout the Penn State Community. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating communication between homecoming and Penn Staters to ensure our outreach is clean and well organized, facilitating conversations within Homecoming to ensure the release of information in a timely and comprehensive manner, and developing new programing around connecting new parts of the Penn State Community to Homecoming. The Outreach Officer will also be responsible for working on internal long-term projects to help the organization grow. 

Responsibilities of the Outreach Officer include, but are not limited to: 

  • Effectively delegate and oversee tasks pertaining to External Relations and Branding working groups 
  • Ensure all members of internal Homecoming remain committed to the organization’s mission and growth 
  • Run the External Relations and Branding working groups and report back to the ED, attend all four working groups to ensure prompt communication to Outreach Committees to allow for optimized support of Logistics projects 
  • ED, Officers, and Advisors will have weekly meetings 
  • ED will have bi-weekly/monthly 1v1s with each Director to remain in the loop on things that are less collaborative and help where needed 
  • All Directors and Officers will attend weekly HEC meetings and all will provide updates 
  • Develop the planning process of the Outreach committees by creating and utilizing structures that enhance accountability and speed up communication processes within Homecoming. 

 

2022 Logistics Officer Description: 

The Logistics Officer will oversee event planning and logistics for Homecoming 2022. This includes, but is not limited to, overseeing the contracting process for events and developing a master Homecoming timeline. In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating with the Outreach Officer to ensure that information is dispersed effectively across the organization. The Logistics Officer will also be responsible for working on internal long-term projects to help the organization grow.  

Responsibilities of the Logistics Officer include, but are not limited to: 

  • Effectively delegate and oversee tasks pertaining Event Planning and Event Logistics working groups 
  • Ensure all members of internal Homecoming remain committed to the organization’s mission and growth 
  • Run the Event Planning and Event logistics working group meetings and report back to the ED 
  • ED, Officers, and Advisors will have weekly meetings

  • All Directors and Officers will attend weekly HEC meetings and all will provide updates 
  • Overseeing event planning and logistics committees and ensuring directors have all pertinent information
