Alumni Relations

The Alumni Relations Committee works closely with the Penn State Alumni Association to ensure that alumni have a great experience when they return for Homecoming events, as well as to highlight the successes and achievements of Penn State alumni throughout the year. We coordinate all logistics involving Homecoming’s Grand Marshal and Honorary Grand Marshal, two individuals who exemplify the mission and ideals of this university. We also strive to build and maintain a strong relationship between the Homecoming Executive Committee, Penn State alumni, and the Penn State community through various events and initiatives, such as the Student-Alumni Ice Cream Social and the Tailgate Competition. Our committee color is Royal Blue.

Competition

The Competition Committee is responsible for coordinating the registration of student organizations and the scoring/judging for all competition events – Float, Madhatter, Banner, and For The Glory Talent Show. We continue to develop the point system for all Homecoming events as well as manage the Homecoming Guide. All aspects of Homecoming pertaining to competition fall within this committee. We are also in charge of all communication between Homecoming and the competing organizations. We work to recruit new organizations and remain as an available resource for all Homecoming information. Our committee color is Black

Donor Relations

The Donor Relations Committee is responsible for securing all donations, both in-kind, food and beverage, and monetary, per request of the Executive Committee. We will work to develop positive relationships will all sponsors and ensure that they receive the appropriate entitled benefits. Our committee is Kelly Green.

Distribution Management

The Distribution Management Committee is responsible for managing the logistics across committees. This includes the acquisition, organization, and distribution of all supplies for Homecoming events. We also manage theOff-Campus Storage unit where all supplies are held throughout the year. We work very closely with the Finance, Donor Relations, and OPPerations committees to manage all Homecoming resources. Our committee color is Mint.

Finance

The Finance Committee works to prepare Homecoming’s operating budget for submission to the Student Fee Board and manages all transactions related to Homecoming’s Associated Student Activities account. The Finance committee also assists the Finance Director in maintaining an accurate budget. The committee is also responsible for planning and coordinating all fundraising events which include sporting event/concert concessions and fundraisers at businesses located in State College (Rita’s, Cold Stone, Chipotle, etc). The Finance committee works closely with the Executive committee throughout the year. The committee color is Dark Green.

Internal Development

The Internal Development (ID) Committee works to promote professional and personal growth of all Captains and Committee Members (in coordination with the Executive Director and Graduate Advisor). The Committee plans various workshops to grow leadership skills, as well as bonding activities to enhance collaboration between the different committees. This committee is also responsible for planning and coordinating the logistics of the Friends and Family Tent at the parade and the End of the Year Banquet to thank all Captains for their hard work throughout the year. Our Committee color is Pink.

Merchandise

The Merchandise Committee coordinates every aspect of merchandise ordering and sales for the general public both on campus and at Homecoming events. We are responsible for maintaining the inventory of all merchandise and for documenting merchandise purchases throughout the year. We work to find innovative ways to market and sell Homecoming merchandise, and to emphasize brand pervasiveness and customer service. We also coordinate all online store orders and ensure the online store is operating correctly. Our committee color is Sapphire.

OPPerations

The OPPerations Committee is responsible for the logistics behind all Homecoming Events. We plan and prepare to know how each event will work and ensure that it runs smoothly and safely. In order to do so, we acquire, setup, manage, and teardown all equipment used for each event during Homecoming Week, as well as promote proper waste management at each event. While we often work behind the scenes, OPP plays an integral role in the success of Penn State Homecoming. Our committee color is Orange.

Parade

The Parade Committee is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the largest student-run parade in the nation. This entails coordinating the participation of student, alumni, and community organizations in the parade, communicating parade policy and procedures to all participants, creating the Parade Order, and managing the set up and tear down of the Parade Grounds. The Parade Committee will also perform float safety inspections prior to Parade Day. Our committee color is Safety Green.

Pride Events

The Pride Events Committee is responsible for planning major events such as Legacy, Allen Street Jam, Past to Present, and The Best of Penn State Carnival. These events are designed to help unite the Penn State community by engaging all aspects of the university and teaching them about important historical traditions that bind all Nittany Lions together. Our committee color is Light Blue.

Production

The Production Committee is responsible for developing and producing creative content to use as outreach online and recap Homecoming events. The Production Committee also reviews and interviews applicants for the two Homecoming Emcees. With the responsibilities of working with Emcees, the committee also writes scripts for events, like Parade, Legacy, and others in the year. Production also schedules and coordinates with the Homecoming DJ and talent for events. Throughout the year, we work closely with Technology and Public Relations to promote all videos reaching the Penn State community. Our committee color is Steel Blue.

Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee is responsible for all publicity of Homecoming events and acts as the liaison between the press and the Executive Committee. We work to design promotional materials for all Homecoming events, which includes, but is not limited to, advertisements, fliers, and posters. Our committee color is Lilac.

Royalty

The Royalty Committee is responsible for coordinating the selection of the: Homecoming Student and University Courts, Alumni and Graduate Courts, as well as planning various Royalty related events during the year. We review court applications, select an Alumni Court, and coordinate a student panel for the University Court selection. We also review applications and select individuals to be interviewed by a faculty panel for Student Court. These individuals will develop creative ways to advertise the voting of the King and Queen and increase the involvement of the Courts throughout Homecoming week. Our committee color is Purple.

Security

The Security Committee looks to provide security for any Homecoming event per the request of the Executive Committee to ensure the safety of all participants, spectators, and volunteers. Our main task is on Parade Day, where we rope off the entire Parade route and make sure all safety protocols are being observed. Security works closely withOPPerations, Parade, and Distribution Management to plan out Parade Day and other Homecoming events. Our committee color is Red.

Technology

The Technology committee is responsible for the development and maintenance of the official Homecoming website. This includes updates, operating the merchandise store, handling applications, registrations, general information, and other content that needs to be on the website. The Technology Committee is always looking for ways to improve Homecoming through the use of Technology, to make it run more efficiently. Our committee color is Gold.

University Relations

The University Relations Committee works to increase student involvement in Homecoming and serves as the liaison between Homecoming and Penn State administrators and student organizations. University Relations is responsible for planning and coordinating the logistics behind events such as the Homecoming Day of Service, Dance Competition, Office Competition, Homecoming Blood Drive and working with SPA for the Concert to kick off Homecoming Week. Our committee color is Maroon.
