Courts

Homecoming Court

Court Relations is one of 13 Captain committees within Penn State Homecoming. The Court Relations Committee is responsible for coordinating the selection of the: Homecoming Student, Alumni, University, and Graduate Courts, as well as planning various Court related events during the year. We review court applications, select an Alumni Court, and coordinate a student panel for the University Court selection. We also review applications and select individuals to be interviewed by a faculty panel for Student Court. Being a part of Homecoming Court allows you to have hands-on experience with the faces of Homecoming, while continuing to give back to the Penn State community.  Below you can find the applications to nominate someone for the court!

Courts

Student Court

Penn State Student Court is made up of 10 individuals who have strived for success as a student at the University while embracing opportunities within academics, leadership and community service.

Graduate & Professional Court

Penn State Graduate and Professional Court is made up of 4 individuals from the Graduate and Professional Schools, who have succeeded within all areas of higher education while remaining committed to finding their home within the Nittany Lion Family.

University Court

Penn State University Court is made up of 4 individuals from the faculty and staff community who have made an impact on students continually, during their time.

Alumni Court

Penn State Alumni Court is made up of individuals who are continuing the legacy and traditions of our University as an Alumni.

Important Changes

Beginning in 2018, Penn State Homecoming will eliminate the gendered titles of “Homecoming King and Queen”, as well as rid the number ratio of male to female representation within the court. In an effort to embrace diversity and gender inclusivity within our community, ten candidates who capture the essence of the values we hold true as a university will be chosen, regardless of their gender, gender identity, and gender expression to represent the Senior Class as members of the Student Court.

In the past, the top two members of the Student Court who were once known as “King and Queen,” were crowned during the annual Homecoming Football game. In an effort to embrace change within our organization, we are looking to acknowledge the top two recognized students with the Guide State Forward Award.

As Student Court members, these outstanding students will have the opportunity to showcase their talents, participate in university-wide service, as well as engage and participate with each event occurring during Homecoming Week.

Homecoming as an organization supports the continued ideas of the “All-In” initiative, by embracing the individual experiences and backgrounds of each Nittany Lion that make up the Penn State family.
