Committee Members

Involvement Committee

The Involvement Committee will assist the University Relations Captains throughout the year on a series of projects to promote University involvement and Penn State pride. Events include Tailgate and Office Competitions, Athletic Events, The 5k and Day of Service. In addition to assisting in these events Involvement Committee will have the opportunity to directly interact with the First Year Involvement Committee, and to help them adjust to Penn State.

Merchandise

The Merchandise Committee members are responsible for working at the Homecoming merchandise sales throughout the year, and working with specific Homecoming Captains with creative projects to spread the word about Penn State Homecoming through merchandise. Applicants should be creative, organized, and outgoing.

OPPerations

The OPPerations Committee will assist the OPP Captains in the Waste Management and Set-Up and Teardown of all Homecoming Events. They will also be in charge of securing the Parade route. These individuals should be prepared to work hard and attend a variety of Homecoming events to ensure the success of OPP and Homecoming as a whole.

Parade

The Parade Committee will assist the Parade Captains with the setup and tear down of all grounds and assist in organizing the lineup of parade participants and merge points. These individuals should be prepared to attend different Homecoming events and work throughout Parade day to ensure the success of the largest student-run parade in the nation and Homecoming overall. 

Public Relations - Photo & Video

Photography and Video Committee members are responsible for capturing and documenting all Homecoming events throughout the year. Applicants should be creative, have some photography or video experience, and a basic knowledge of editing software. Applicants should submit 5 pictures or videos that demonstrate their skillset.

Emcees

The Homecoming Emcees are responsible for hosting all events and hyping up Homecoming throughout the year. Some events include: Legacy in the Spring, Allen Street Jam, Past to Present, and the Homecoming Parade in the fall. These individuals coordinate with the Talent Relations committee, in attending weekly meetings, writing event scripts, and rehearsing them at table reads. The Emcees work across other committees, ensuring the crowds of students, alumni, and local residents are engaged and entertained. These individuals should be enthusiastic, sociable, and charismatic.

Court Relations

Events Captains, ICL/Head of DEI (2)

The Events Captains are responsible for planning events in celebration of the selection of the 2023 Homecoming Court. This includes the Court Reception, Court Workshop, and Court Crash. They also communicate with the Alumni Association and Staff at the Hintz Center to prepare for these events. One of theses captains will also act as the Court Relations Committee’s Head of DEI/Events Captain. This Captain will lead initiatives and conversations throughout the year to bring up common Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion issues. The other Events captain will double as the Court Relations Inter-Committee Liaison. The ICL/Events Captain is responsible for taking meeting minutes and fostering morale and bonding within the committee. Both of these captains, while having separate specializations, will collaborate during the planning of Court Relation’s events!

Student Court Captains (1-2)

These captains will work together to coordinate all efforts involving the Student Court. This includes communicating with the past court and involving them in Spring events for Homecoming. It also entails the nomination, application, voting, and selection of the Student Court for Homecoming 2022. This also involves assisting in the coordination of the Faculty Panel and ensuring the appearance of the Homecoming court at events throughout Homecoming Week.

University Court Captain (1)

The University Court Captain is involved in the coordination of all things surrounding the University Court. This includes the nomination and selection of Court as well as the appearance of the court at events throughout Homecoming Week. This captain will also work with the Graduate Court Captain to select a Student Panel.

Graduate and Professional School Court Captain (1)

The Graduate Court captain is in charge of the coordination of all things surrounding the Graduate Court. This includes the nomination and selection of Court as well as the appearance of the court at events throughout Homecoming Week. This will include outreach efforts to different graduate organizations to make them aware of nominations. This captain will also work with the University Court Captain to select a Student Panel.
