Penn State Homecoming’s Legacy event was created to celebrate the legacy that graduating seniors will be leaving here at Penn State while also celebrating the legacy that underclass students are creating during their time here. As an organization, part of our mission is to instill pride in all members of the Penn State family. Recognizing student accomplishments is one way that we pursue this goal. This year, Legacy will be a “Blast from the Past” where everyone can forget about the stress of being a college student and just be a kid again.
Nittany Night

Calm those first-week nerves with a movie at the HUB! At Nittany Night, you can relax while watching Monsters University, enjoying some snacks, and learning about Penn State Homecoming. Nittany Night is a great way to learn about a student organization in a relaxed, welcoming environment. We hope to see you there!
Golf Tournament
September 22, 2024 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Penn State White Courses
Do you have what it takes for a hole-in-one? Find out at the Penn State Homecoming Golf Tournament on Sunday, September 22nd at Penn State White Courses. We will have free tee times for students from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Try your drive and putt skills in a 9-hole tournament with a long drive and closest to the pin competition. We have several prizes donated by local businesses and are sure to have a good time! If a tournament isn’t your style, come on down for some fun in the driving range for just $6! Rally and Roar

Join us for our fun-filled Homecoming week kick-off event! The Student Programming Association and Homecoming are teaming up to create a night of Penn State pride to heighten everyone’s excitement for Homecoming week. Stop by Rally and Roar on HUB lawn between 5-9 PM on Sunday, September 22nd. There will be inflatables, games, food, crafts, and more. The night will end with a fireworks display after dark. Food vouchers will be given to the first 150 students, so get there early for a chance of free food. We can’t wait to start off our week-long celebration with you!
Allen Street Jam

There’s no better way to get ready for Homecoming Week than a block party for the whole State College community! Come by on September 23rd from 3-7pm for the Allen Street Jam, honoring Penn State’s commitment to creating a fun time for all. Snack on local restaurant’s goodies – including the famous McClanahan’s Meatball Subs – sweet treats, take home goodies, and maybe even a picture with the Nittany Lion? Stay for a while to jam out to live music, play some yard games, meet our Homecoming Court, and watch some Penn State dance groups do live performances around 6pm. We can’t wait to see you there and get in the Homecoming spirit!
Past to Present

Enter Heritage Hall on Tuesday, September 24th between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM to celebrate Penn State’s history! When you walk into this blast from the past you will see a silent disco to dance with your friends to music from throughout the times, a sign shop to make creative memorabilia for the day, cotton candy, popcorn, cake, and fun performances and interactive games to experience throughout the day! There will be multiple clubs sharing their history so we can all see how every student at Penn State is part of our history. For The Glory Talent Show

The Penn State For The Glory Talent Show is an annual event where students from various majors showcase their talents, including singing, dancing, comedy, music, and poetry. It brings the Penn State community together to celebrate creativity and school spirit. Participants compete for prizes, with the grand prize winner earning a stage performance during THON™ Weekend. This cherished tradition embodies Penn State’s motto, “For the Glory,” highlighting excellence, diversity, and unity through performance and self-expression.
Best of Penn State Carnival

A carnival on campus? Yes, you heard that right! On Wednesday, September 25th, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, HUB’s Flex Theater will be transformed and you’re not going to want to miss it. Explore the carnival-style “booths” that will be hosted by a variety of student organizations and then take your turn on one of the inflatables. Once you get hungry, grab some popcorn, cotton candy, or Creamery ice cream, before going to sit for a caricature with your friends or trying to win a stuff-a-plush. Stop by at any time – we can’t wait to see you then!
Opulence Drag Show

Pride in Our Community Pep Rally

The Homecoming Pride in Our Community Pep Rally put on by the Paul Robeson Cultural Center takes place every year on the Monumental Staircase. The POC Pep Rally brings the community together. You can always see students dancing, stepping, and cheering for each other!

Alumni Ice Cream Social

The Homecoming Ice Cream Social is an event all students, alumni, and members of the Penn State community are welcome to attend. Berkey Creamery ice cream will be served along with music, Alumni Blue Band performances, and a cash-only Homecoming merchandise sale! The Ice Cream Social helps welcome alumni back home for the weekend while boosting Penn State pride leading up to the Homecoming Parade!

Parade

On behalf of Penn State Homecoming, the Parade Committee is excited for this year’s Homecoming Parade with the theme “In Every Roar, Tradition Soars.” We hope that you will join us to celebrate one of Penn State’s oldest and most famous traditions that keeps students, faculty, staff, and alumni connected. As Homecoming, we celebrate our legacy and share our Penn State pride with all those who were, are, and will be a part of the Penn State community. The annual Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, September 27th, 2024 at The Pennsylvania State University’s University Park campus in downtown State College, starting at 6:00 PM. We would love to be able to showcase student organizations, alumni, community groups, and our VIPS and their role in the Penn State community. Groups can register for the Homecoming parade at this link on the Homecoming website.
Guard The Lion Shrine

Held immediately after the Homecoming parade every year, Guard The Lion Shrine is one of Penn State’s longest standing traditions. This tradition originates from a well-know story featuring Sue Paterno, a friend, and some Syracuse fans. The Syracuse fans, during Homecoming weekend, covered the Lion Shrine in oil-based paint, making the removal of the paint very difficult. Since then, Guarding the Shrine has become a cherished Homecoming celebration featuring live entertainment, guest speakers, often Sue Paterno herself, free food, games, and activities centered around protecting the symbol of our best! Join us in Guarding the Shrine this Homecoming Weekend!

Homecoming Football Game

The Homecoming football game will take place Saturday September 28th at 7:30 PM against the Illinois Fighting Illini. Come witness the black and pink S-Zone, the “Generations of Greatness” jerseys, and the presentation of the Homecoming Courts, Grand Marshals, and much more!
