Nittany Night

Nittany Night is a family-friendly movie night, taking place on Sunday, October 10th from 6 to 10:30 pm. This year, Homecoming Committees and our 2021 Courts will be hosting trick-or-treating booths before our movies start. Please join us on the HUB lawn for a night of fun! 

The two movies that will be displayed throughout the night include Hocus Pocus and Monsters Inc!

Homecoming Golf Tournament

October 17, 2021 | 10:00AM | Penn State Golf Courses

The second annual Homecoming Golf Outing will kick-off Homecoming Week’s festivities on Sunday, October 17th. Tee times will be covered for all students who register, students can rent a set of golf clubs, and feature appearances from several athletic coaches and players are scheduled.

The annual Homecoming x SPA Concert will take place Sunday night in Alumni Hall. Admittance is free for all students and will feature performances by various student groups and a popular headliner performance.

Allen Street Jam

Stop by Allen Street between Beaver and College Aves on Monday, October 18th between 1 and 7 pm for an awesome afternoon. This street fair features food, games, live music, performances, and more! We can’t wait to see you there!

The Homecoming Pride in Our Community Pep Rally put on by the Paul Robeson Cultural Center takes place every year on the Monumental Staircase. The POC Pep Rally brings the community together. You can always see students dancing, stepping, and cheering for each other!

Homecoming/Opulence Drag Show

Penn State Homecoming is so excited to partner with 3 Dots Downtown and Opulence to put on our first annual drag show! Opulence is Penn State’s Premiere Drag Ambassador group. Come out for a fun night of performances! Tickets are $5 and the doors open at 8pm for the 8:30pm show.

Alumni Ice Cream Social

The Homecoming Ice Cream Social is an event all students, alumni, and members of the Penn State community are welcome to attend. Berkey Creamery ice cream will be served along with music, Alumni Blue Band performances, and a cash-only Homecoming merchandise sale! The Ice Cream Social helps welcome alumni back home for the weekend while boosting Penn State pride leading up to the Homecoming Parade!

On behalf of Penn State Homecoming, the Parade Committee is excited for this year’s Homecoming Parade with the theme “Together State Prevails.” We hope that you will join us to celebrate one of Penn State’s oldest and most famous traditions that keeps students, faculty, staff, and alumni connected. At Homecoming, we celebrate our legacy and share our Penn State pride with all those who were, are, and will be a part of the Penn State community. The annual Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, October 22nd, 2021 at The Pennsylvania State University’s University Park campus in downtown State College, starting at 6 p.m. We would love to be able to showcase student organizations, alumni, community groups, and our VIPS and their role in the Penn State community. Groups can register for the Homecoming parade at this link on the Homecoming website.

Tailgate Competition

Before the Homecoming Football Game on October 23, 2021

The Penn State Homecoming Tailgate Competition is held right before the Homecoming football game and is open to any member of the Penn State Community, including students and alumni. Tailgates are based off of six categories: Best Food, Most Creative, Most Penn State Spirit, Best Overall, “Nittany Newcomer” and Best Student Organization. On the day of, judges help score all tailgates and reward winners with spirited prizes.  Click below for more information!


Homecoming Football Game

The Homecoming football game will take place Saturday October 23rd at noon against the Illinois Fighting Illini. Come witness the black and pink S-Zone, the “Generations of Greatness” jerseys, and the presentation of the Homecoming Courts, Grand Marshalls, and much more!

The Annual Horticulture Show

October 23rd – 24th, 2021 | 9:00AM |
Snider Agricultural Arena

The annual Horticulture Show will have a Halloween theme this year and games will be set up in the Ag Snyder Arena. The show consists of donated plant material that will be up for sale. Included in the plant material will be native trees, shrubs, mums, succulents, and houseplants. We will also have apple cider, apples, and pumpkins available for purchase.

Guard The Lion Shrine 

October 22nd, 2021 | 7:30PM-10:00PM | Lion Shrine

Guard the Lion Shrine is one of the longest-lasting Homecoming traditions to Penn State & Lion Ambassadors! Members from Penn State’s Army ROTC program come to stand guard & protect the symbol of our best! At the event there will be free food, including popcorn & funnel cakes, opportunities for photos with the Nittany Lion, & a variety of games & activities for students to win giveaways & prizes! Live entertainment will also be present throughout the night, including the Blue Band DrumLine, PAC organizations, as well as PSU Alumni & guest speaker Sue Paterno! Come protect the tradition & celebrate Homecoming with thousands of friends, family, & alumni at the Lion Shrine!

Forensic Science Club Haunted House Fundraiser

Thursday, October 21st- Saturday, October 23rd |7:00PM – 12:00AM | 
Spruce and Pine Cottages

The Forensic Science Club in collaboration with the Theme Park and Engineering Group will be having their Fall 2021 Haunted House Fundraiser, with the theme Asylum, on Thursday, October 21 8pm-11pm, Friday, October 22 7pm-12am, and Saturday, October 23 7pm-12am. The Haunted House is open to the public and they are selling tickets for $4.99 per person.

The proceeds that go into the haunted house will be donated to two charities: “H.E.A.R.T. (Hope Exist After Rape Trauma)” to help rape trauma survivors; and “Give Kids the World Village” to provide critically ill children and their families a vacation of their wish.

Also, since it is homecoming weekend and lots of families and children will be here, there will be a kids hour that is designated from 7pm-8pm on Saturday, October 23rd for families with children ages 10 and under. This will be less scary than usual and PG friendly
